Everyone loves classic cars.

We all appreciate, and perhaps take for granted, the ‘comfort’ features of new cars today like AC, power windows, alarms controlled by our keys, dual pane windows, and so much more, but people of a certain age don’t care about such features when it comes to classic cars. They don’t care that the car is loud, has a bumpy ride, and only AM radio, rather the lines of these classic cars and their nostalgia makes up for the shortcomings of technology and comfort.

Classic cars turn heads everywhere. Whether displayed for competition, meetings for the hobbyist, or driven in day-to-day life, classic cars have a story to tell from it’s special classic color to the heavily chromed bumpers.

“Auto racing began 5 minutes after the second car was built.” Henry Ford

The designs of classic cars have inspired collectors from all walks of life such as former late night host, Jay Leno. Jay’s collection of classic cars and motorcycles includes a 1909 Baker Electric. It was marketed as a vehicle of women’s liberation as it required no cranking, drove silently, and ran on alkaline batteries.

Unlike other typical car collectors, Jay drives his cars regularly. Spotted on the streets of LA county have been Jays 1928 Bugatti Type 37A Grand Prix, as well as his tiny 1933 LLC Rocket, weighing in at only 850 pounds which is a fraction of the weight of a VW bug.

Used as the ultimate accessory, a way to get around town, or for investment, classic cars appeal to car lovers, engineering buffs, and art & design lovers. The iconic scene of Susanne Summers in the 1956 Thunderbird will always be remembered in the classic movie American Graffiti, as will the turquoise 1966 Ford Thunderbird Convertible in Thelma and Louise, and Tom Selleck’s red Ferrari won’t soon be forgotten either.  Some of cinema’s greatest and most nostalgic moments include classic cars.
